Zola Webster

June 11, 1930 – August 10, 2024

The wife of Rev. Roy L. Webster (retried elder), Zola Webster, 94, passed away peacefully on August 10, 2024. Born on June 11, 1930, Zola lived a full and vibrant life from beginning to end and touched the lives of many people along the way.

Growing up in Cordell Oklahoma, Zola Mae Hagin attended Oklahoma University and nursing school before she moved to Michigan to start a nursing career.

In 1954 Zola met and married LaVere Webster and began their family a few years later. They raised their two children in several Michigan cities as assigned to Methodist churches for LaVere’s vocation as an ordained minister.

Zola worked the last 20 years of her nursing career at Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak. She was a nurse manager for the hospital’s very busy operating rooms. After retirement, Zola continued as a hospital contingent and taught local sewing classes.

Zola was active in the church and traveled the world with LaVere and the missionary group. She enjoyed meeting people and helping them through the work sponsored by the Methodist Church. She was a dedicated mother and grandmother, attending every theatrical, musical and sporting event, always cheering for those she loved.

Zola is survived by her loving husband of 70 years, LaVere, their son Kent, (Jeff), daughter Cheryl, son-in-law Greg and grandchildren Andrea (Matt), Eric (Hannah) and Kevin.

In the most recent years, Zola’s vibrance was clouded by dementia. We cherish the entirety of her life, her true spirit of love, service and care for all of God’s children.

Please join Zola’s family at the memorial service celebration of her life on Friday September 6th at 10am (visitation) and 11am (service) at Troy First United Methodist Church, 6363 Livernois, Troy Michigan 48098. [email protected] 248-879-6363

Donations can be made in honor of Zola to the Troy First United Methodist Church memorial fund.
