William T. Shomaker

May 5, 1942 – May 9, 2022

Pastor William Thomas (Tom) Schomaker passed away Monday, May 9, 2022 at McLaren Bay Regional Hospital with his wife by his side. As was one of his goals, he made it to the age of 80. He was born May 6, 1942 to the late Elmer and Evelyn (Sanders) Schomaker in Bay City, Michigan. Tom was a pastor for the United Methodist Church for over 3 decades, and was always dedicated to bringing peace, love, comfort, and support to those around him. He enjoyed creative cooking, learning everything about anything, gardening, and discussing substantive topics with friends and his wife Pat.

Tom is survived by his wife of 57 years, Patricia (Proksa) Schomaker; daughter, Tara (Richard) Hernandez; son, Kyle (Holly) Schomaker; son, Chad (Faye) Schomaker; grandchildren, Kyle Thomas Schomaker, Guinevere Hernandez, Victoria Schomaker, Darius Hernandez, and nephew Charles Ramsey. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his sisters June Schomaker and Frances (Charles) Ramsey.

Tom and Pat had previously decided to not have a funeral service. Memorial gifts can be given to the NAACP and UMCOR.
