The Reverend William Parker McBride, 73, of Port Huron, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, December 17, 2023, after a brief illness.
He was born on May 23, 1950 in Flint, to the late Willis and Luna McBride.
Pastor McBride earned degrees from the University of Michigan at Flint and Garrett-Evangelical Seminary of Evanston, Illinois. A gifted preacher, he was known for his humor, warmth and gentle nature. During a long career, he served as pastor for United Methodist congregations in Owendale, Gagetown, Monroe, Durand and North Street. In retirement, he made his home at Porthaven Manor, where he leaves many friends.
He is survived by special friends, Kerri Gallenbeck, Shannon Gallenbeck and Kevin Brunner.
Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. on Saturday, January 6, 2024, at North Street United Methodist Church with a memorial service at 11 a.m., followed by a fellowship meal.
Memorial contributions may be made to Garrett-Evangelical Seminary, North Street UMC or to the donor’s choice.
In a final message, Pastor McBride wrote, “Remember, this is a time of rejoicing, for I have returned to my Maker.”
