Richard A. Turner

April 16, 1931 - July 29, 2023

Rev. Richard Allen Turner passed away on Saturday morning, July 29, 2023 at his residence in Saginaw. He was 92 years old. Richard Allen Turner was born on April 16, 1931 in Cass City, MI to the late Harold and Mabel Dickinson. After his mother died, he went to stay with the late Clarence and Thelma (Tomlinson) Turner.  The Turners raised him and formally adopted him when he was 10 years old. He married the lovely Mary Lee Wilson on September 5, 1953 in New Ulm, MN. Richard attended Caro High School and continued his education at Taylor University in Indiana earning a Bachelor’s Degree. He also earned his Masters of Divinity from Christian Theological Seminary. Richard started his ministry while going to seminary school, retiring after 42 years of service. He served at the following churches in Indiana and Michigan: Windsor, Rehoboth; Losantville, Blountsville; Bay Port; Millington, Arbela; Pinconning; Saginaw: West Michigan Avenue; Saginaw: West Michigan Avenue, Sheridan Avenue; Onaway, Millersburg. Richard was a member of the United Methodist Church for many years.

Richard loved his grandchildren. He enjoyed traveling, fishing and hunting. He and Mary Lee also enjoyed time on Bois Blanc Island where they had a cottage; they spent as much time there as they could. 

Surviving are his loving wife of 70 years, Mary Lee Turner; children, Kathleen Jimenez, Jeffrey Turner and Darren (Amy)Turner; grandchildren, Anna Martinez, Phillip Jimenez, Alexandra Turner, and Emily Turner; great-granddaughter, Corin Martinez, and many nieces and nephews.

Richard was preceded in death by his son, Kenneth Lee Turner and one brother, Harlan Dickinson and three sisters, Gladys, Dorothy and Marian.

A funeral service took place at First United Methodist Church, 4790 Gratiot Rd. Saginaw, MI 48638 with Pastor Amy Terhune officiating. A private interment took take place in Indianfields Township Cemetery, Caro, MI.
