The Reverend Phylemon DePriest Titus, Retired (Dec. 31, 2002) Elder of the Michigan Conference, made a peaceful transition to his home on high on Monday, March 23, 2020 at 6:04 a.m. in Waycross, GA. with his wife (Rev. Linda Slaughter-Titus, Waycross) and daughter (Iyana Titus-Richards, NY, NY).
Although ‘Tite’ was ordained in the Texas Conference, he served in pastoral ministry in the Georgia Conference (1967-69) and the Detroit Annual Conference (06/1969-12/31/2002). His pastorates included: Augusta: St. Marks UMC, Detroit: Fourteenth Avenue, Detroit: Henderson Memorial, Detroit: Conant Avenue, Detroit: St. Timothy, West Outer Drive and Inkster Christ (after retirement). He also served the Methodist connection church as Detroit Conference Urban Missioner, Detroit East District Superintendent, NCJ Town and Country President, NCJ Judicial Council, Conference Delegate to Jurisdictional Conference (4 times) Conference Delegate to General Conference (4 times) Conference Delegate to World Methodist Conference (6 times) as well as serving as Trustee to Garret Evangelical Seminary (Life Trustee) and Adrian College.
Out of concern for all during this difficult the family will have private closure and at a more appropriate time in the future there will be a memorial celebration of his life and ministry.
