Michelle A. Gentile

March 25, 1954 – June 20, 2024

Rev. Michelle Annette Gentile, Retired Elder, died on June 20, 2024.

Michelle was born on March 25, 1954, to Michael and Aleen Gentile. She was a graduate of Central Michigan University with a degree in Education and Theater. She met her husband Rev. Randy Whitcomb, Retired Elder, at Methodist Theological School in Ohio. They married on September 2, 1984.

Michelle served at Dearborn First UMC and Denton Faith UMC before going on medical disability. Their first child, Mariah Anne Whitcomb, was stillborn on March 2, 1991. She was a proud mother of son Joshua Michael James Whitcomb and daughter Miranda Christine Whitcomb.

Michelle was known for her infectious laugh. She was quite the talker, but she also listened deeply. People appreciated her compassionate and non-judgmental counsel. She touched many hearts and left her fingerprints there. She will always have a place in the hearts of those who knew her. She is worth every tear cried and every joy remembered.

The visitation and service will be held on Monday, July 8 at Troy First UMC, 6363 Livernois Rd, Troy, MI 48098. Family and friends will gather for visitation from 12:00 to 2:00 PM. A Celebration of Life service will begin at 2:00 pm in the sanctuary with songs and stories celebrating Michelle’s life, love, and compassion. Sharing of food and stories will follow in the fellowship hall.

The service will be live streamed on YouTube – Troy First UMC.

Condolences may be sent to Randy Whitcomb, 2772 Roundtree Dr., Troy, MI 48083.
