Rev. Harold M. Taber died on August 18, 2018, in Grand Rapids. He served the West Michigan Conference as pastor at Shepherd/Pleasant Valley/Chippewa Indian Mission; Wacousta Community; Casnovia/Kent City; Houghton Lake Parish; Middleville/Freeport; Jackson: Trinity; and Kalamazoo: Lane Blvd and Scottville. He retired in 1980. While serving pastorates he introduced the West Michigan Conference to audio recording of annual conference sessions and the use of media resources for School of Christian Mission and Pastor’s School. He also served the United Methodist Conference as secretary for the Board of Missions and Board of Ministry and in its camping ministries as dean, registrar, and counselor for various camps. He is the son of the late Rev. Marcius and Mearl Taber and brother of Rev. Margery (Gordon) Schleicher, who survives him. Also surviving him are his wife of 69 years, Miriam; daughters, Sally Taber (Dean Tousley) and Norma Taber; son Paul (Kathye) Harrington-Taber; sister, Carolyn (Werner) Klisch; sister-in-law, Ann Taber; and five grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. His brothers preceded him in death, Morris, August 3, 2018, and John in 1989.
