Bishop Bard to tour Area

The Michigan Area has three opportunities to meet Bishop David Bard and his family. Please note one date change.

Bishop David A. Bard arrives in Lansing to begin leadership among the United Methodists of Michigan on September 1.

Getting to know the state –its regions, its gifts…its people – will be a priority in those first few months in the mitten. Each event will include a worship service, with Bishop Bard preaching, followed by a reception.

So this is an invitation to pastors and laity from the four corners of Michigan to welcome Bishop Bard, his wife Julie and their family.

Mark calendars now for one of these times and places:

A brief introduction. Prior to election, the Rev. Dr. David Bard had been serving at First United Methodist Church in Duluth, Minnesota since 2005. He has been in ministry around the state for more than 30 years and is the first person to be elected bishop out of Minnesota. Bishop Bard received a BA from the University of Minnesota, Duluth in 1981; his Master of Divinity was earned at United Theological Seminary, Twin Cities 1984; and in 1994 he received a Ph.D. from Southern Methodist University with a focus on Christian ethics. He and his wife, Julie, have three adult children. In his free time, he enjoys music, reading, baseball, and walking outside. Learn more about Bishop Bard’s ministry and vision here.

More details will be available soon Please plan ahead for this opportunity to meet and greet Michigan’s new shepherd.
