Nathan W. Seitz

Nathan Wesley Seitz

June 22, 2004 – May 09, 2023

Son of Retired Elder Rev. William R. Seitz, Nathan Wesley Seitz, aged 18, died unexpectedly Tuesday, May 9, 2023, in his home after a lengthy battle with depression and anxiety.

Nathan was born June 22, 2004, in Grand Blanc, Michigan. He grew up in Davisburg, Sault Ste. Marie, and Newberry, where he graduated from Tahquamenon Area Schools in 2022.

While in High School, Nathan worked at Mac’s Market, Seder’s Pizza, and recently at Newberry Hometown Pharmacy where he enjoyed his coworkers’ (his friends) conversations and sense of humor. Nathan was trusted by many in the community to pet-sit their beloved animals, and he enjoyed doing so, and the photos on his cell phone proved it: Mr. Butters, Benny, two adorable misfit cats, and many more.

Nathan was known by family, friends, and coworkers to talk with comedic flair. A very bright young man that had an infectious smile and was eager to joke and keep things lighthearted.

Nathan took his mind off his struggles by reading books about History and Philosophy, talking with his childhood friends, Lucas, Marcus and Trey, and he spent most of his time as the personal photographer for Daisy, the family dog. He cuddled and practiced tricks with her and gave her treats just for being there.

Nathan was adored and loved as a son to William Seitz, and Kristen and Tony Salter. Brother to Joshua Coates, Julia Seitz, Lucy Seitz, Theo Seitz, Bretanna Salter, and Sierra Salter.  Loved by so many aunts, uncles, cousins, and Grandma Lynn.

Uncle Nathan would use his puffy cheeks and make duck sounds all to help his nieces, Dany and Lani, giggle.

Nathan is preceded in death by his Nana, Janet Kay Schwittay, his Great Aunt Sally Int-Hout, and his Yaya, Oneida Seitz.

Nathan’s family would like to say a heartfelt thank you to Daniel Netherton, PA-C, Nurse Angie Fossitt, Karen Hibbard MSW, Faith Huyck PMHNP-BC, EMT Steve Berry, EMT Chris King and EMT Rachel Nelson that responded to our call, Deputy Michael Peters, Dr. Michael Beaulieu, and Chris Beaulieu…. As daily caretakers in our community, I pray the weight of the world is not on your shoulders and rest in knowing that your continuing efforts to help others prevents more hurt in the world.  You helped my family carry through.  Blessing.

A memorial picnic will be at our home, 505 W Victory Way, Newberry, Sunday, June 11, 2023 from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm for all who would like to share stories and hugs.

Nathan’s family has created the Nathan Wesley Seitz Memorial Scholarship for high school seniors entering the mental health field. Details of the scholarship and the scholarship’s disbursement will be available for spring of 2024. Donations can be made at Nicolet Bank, 414 Newberry Ave, Newberry, Michigan 49868 under the Nathan Wesley Seitz Scholarship Fund.
