Margaret A. Kivisto

Margaret Amelia Kivisto, born February 6, 1941 in Detroit, Michigan, the daughter of Roy and Neva Dodd, passed suddenly while walking through her beloved Mount Brighton subdivision. Margaret was a retired local pastor who served at Linden UMC and Argentine UMC. She met Jeffrey Kivisto in high school and after six years of dating, they wed and spent 55 wonderful years of marriage together. Margo and Jeff had two children: Eric and Megan. Margo set an example by always seeking knowledge, striving to learn and study, and to be productive by using the skills God gave her to help others. She thought life without these two blessings would be hollow and a frightening prospect. Anyone who knew Margo knew her love of silliness and irreverent humor. One of her greatest joys was spontaneous laughter, finding and embracing the foolishness in life. Margo is survived by her husband (Jeffrey), children Eric (Cheri) and Megan, grandson Carter, sister Carolyn (Robert), beloved nieces and nephews, and cats Augustine and Henry.

Visitation will be on Thursday, July 11 from 4:00 – 8:00 pm at Keehn-Griffin Funeral Home, 706 W. Main St., Brighton, Michigan.  A Memorial Service will be Friday, July 12 at 11:00 am at First United Methodist Church of Brighton, 400 E. Grand River Ave., Brighton, Michigan.

Condolences may be sent to Margaret’s husband:
Mr. Jeffrey Kivisto
