Kersten, Carol Eileen

Carol Eileen Frye Kersten died on March 27, 2017. She is survived by her husband, Robert, who served in the following Detroit and West Michigan appointments:  Stanwood/Higbee, 1960; Burr Oak 1962; Napoleon 1967; Mio 1969; Hillman/Spratt 1975; Ishpeming Wesley 1978; Poseyville/Gordonsville 1980; Kilmanagh 1982; Woodland/Welcome Corners 1987; Vermontville/Gresham 1991; Retired 1995.

Carol was born in Sturgis, MI, on November 24, 1931. She married Robert Kersten on October 7, 1951 in Alma, MI and together they served in the United Methodist ministry for 35 years. Carol attended the University of Michigan, Interlochen Music Camp, receiving her degree in piano performance from Northern Michigan University. In addition to raising her 6 children, she was a gifted and passionate musician who shared her love for music with her family, her church and the community.

She was a member of Chandler United Methodist Church. A celebration of her life was held at The Gardens at Ocotillo in Chandler, AZ on April 8, 2017.

In lieu of flowers the family has requested that memorials be made to Chandler United Methodist Church, 450 E Chandler Heights Rd, Chandler, AZ 85249, or BayShore Camp, 450 N Miller St, Sebewaing, MI 48759. Private burial will be at Riverlawn Cemetery in Marysville, MI.
