Helene Hope Thompson

June 11, 1933 – October 6, 2022

Wife of Pastor Ronald J. Thompson, Hope Thompson was born 6-11-33 to Harold and Margaret Dakin. She was a pastor’s daughter and lived throughout MI growing up. Hope graduated from Taylor University with a degree in Education. While at Taylor she met the love of her life Ron Thompson and they were married in Wisner MI. Subsequently, they went to seminary in Dayton Ohio and in 1961 Hope and Ron began their enriching ministry first in a church start-up in Waterford Mi and ending at Mt. Pleasant First United Methodist. Their ministry spanned 34 years. Hope was a valued HS teacher in various school districts where they resided. She was the quintessential hostess with a wonderful gift of hospitality. Hope was an accomplished seamstress and made clothes and decor for her children and grandchildren.

Her greatest loves were her faith, family, and church where she enjoyed volunteering and was an avid choir member.

One of her favorite spots was “Happy Loon Lake” where she gathered her family often, as well as family trips to her cherished Simpson Park Camp.

The love for her family was unmatched and a great blessing. Left to carry on her legacy of faith and love are her husband Ron, her children Christy (Phillip) Knight, Todd (Jodie) Thompson, Cindy (Marty) DeBow and her grandchildren Leah, Kurt, Ryan Amanda Andrew Abel Austin Rachael Carly Kattie and Matthew and 12 great grandchildren.

A memorial service was held Friday, October 14, 2022, at 11AM at the First United Methodist Church of Eaton Rapids.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given in honor of Hope to First United Methodist Church in Mt. Pleasant MI.

Arrangements are in the care of Skinner Funeral Home.

Condolences may be sent to:
