Haiti School Project builds on

The Michigan Area Haiti Task Force continues its 20 year mission to Cap Haitian, building schools and enriching lives.

Tovar is a rural community forty five minutes from Cap Haitian with a Methodist Church, clinic and school adjacent to each other.  The Haiti School Project has been working in Tovar for two decades.

Several classrooms have been built during that time. But the Tovar student population is exploding as the students are eager to learn in order to have a better future.

As this photo shows, old classrooms need to be replaced with more suitable learning environment. Project leaders are inviting others to join them to travel to Haiti this fall to construct three new classrooms at Tovar. The group will be out the country working in Haiti October 21-27, 2016. Those wishing to be part of the work crew should contact Project Leaders for more details:

Cap Haitian3The team is also gathering goods to take to Haiti: musical instruments, medical supplies, school books in French, used laptops and white chalk. Those wishing to donate should contact Curtis or Keith.

This project has made a difference in the life of this Cap Haitian College Modele student and others like him. The Michigan Area Haiti Task Force needs funds to continue the work in Tovar. Donations may be sent to First United Methodist Church Ypsilanti, 209 Washtenaw Avenue, Ypsilanti MI 48197; memo to Cap Haitian.

Thank you for partnering with this effort to “Connect, Grow, and Serve.”
