The United Methodist Foundation of Michigan proudly announces its recognition with the 2024 Candid Platinum Seal of Transparency, affirming its steadfast commitment to accountability and excellence in nonprofit operations. Candid (formerly known as GuideStar), the world’s largest source of nonprofit information, awards this prestigious seal to organizations that demonstrate exceptional transparency by providing detailed information about their mission, goals, achievements, and governance.

Founded in 1925, the United Methodist Foundation of Michigan has been dedicated to supporting congregations, pastors, church leaders, and individuals across the state. Governed by a volunteer board of directors and staffed with dedicated professionals, the foundation has consistently upheld its mission to help faithful people live generous lives.

This Platinum Seal of Transparency is a testament to the foundation’s unwavering commitment to financial stewardship, accountability, and transparency. Achieving this recognition places them in the top 1% of nonprofit organizations nationally, underscoring their dedication to providing clear and comprehensive information to their stakeholders. The designation reflects the foundation’s adherence to best practices in governance and financial transparency. It acknowledges the foundation’s effective implementation of evidence-based strategies and its unwavering commitment to measuring and achieving impactful results across its broad spectrum of services.

“We are honored to receive this prestigious recognition, which reinforces our role as a trusted partner in supporting ministries and individuals in living into their purpose and vision,” said Rev. Dr. David S. Bell, president and executive director. “This achievement energizes us to continue striving for excellence in everything we do, empowering our partners and stakeholders to make a lasting difference in our communities.”

The United Methodist Foundation of Michigan offers a comprehensive range of services, including value-aligned investment funds, stewardship consultation, planned giving seminars, grants, awards, and scholarships — all aimed at helping local United Methodist churches thrive and individuals fulfill their giving aspirations.
