This week WDIV-TV in Detroit reported on how the Northwest Detroit Flood Recovery Project of The United Methodist Church is assisting the thousands of families in Detroit who have still not recovered from the August, 2014 floods. Click here to see the video,
The Detroit Renaissance District, in partnership with an international organization, All Hands Volunteers, is helping residents recover the safe living space lost when the skies opened over the city 14 months ago. The mucking-out and mold remediation is being done with no cost to flood victims.
There are still over 3,000 Detroit families living in flood-damaged homes, once filled with 2-4 feet of flood water and gone without treatment.
Now All Hands Volunteers and UMCOR’s Northwest Detroit Flood Recovery Project are launching a 12-day campaign from November 19 to December 1 to help these families by “gutting out” over 100 homes before the holidays.
