Doris J. Tousley

November 18, 1934 – November 1, 2024

Wife of Rev. Kenneth L. Tousley, Doris Jean Tousley, 89, of East Tawas, Michigan, died Friday, November 1, 2024, at The Heartlands Aspire Senior Living Community, Marlette. She was born November 18, 1934, on a farm near Snover to Norman and Veva (Rich) McQueen. She married Kenneth Lee Tousley on June 14, 1952, at the Deford United Methodist Church after graduating from Caro High School. Ken and Doris were married for 70 years before Ken went home to be with the Lord on October 26, 2022.

During the course of a long and happy marriage, Ken became a United Methodist pastor. Doris was by his side as he studied at Taylor University, preparing for ministry. During their ministry together, she held many positions, including secretary for the chaplain at Adrian College. She also held several positions for the Detroit Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church. Doris was proud of being the wife of a pastor, and she did it very well. She thought the world of her four boys and grandchildren. Doris and Ken enjoyed their retirement in East Tawas. She liked cross-stitching and was not shy about getting her hands dirty with outside chores. Doris will always be remembered for her roast beef dinners, many pies, and heavenly molasses cookies.

Doris is survived by her sons: Philip (Laurel) Tousley of Cass City; Jeffrey (Judith) Tousley of Frankfort; Scott Tousley of East Tawas; daughter-in-law, Theresa Tousley of Fenton; eleven grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; sister, Cheryl McQueen of Caro; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ken; son, Mark Tousley; great-grandson, Carl Desotell.

A funeral service was held at Kranz Funeral Home in Cass City, with her granddaughter, Rev. Briony Desotell, officiating. The interment took place at Ellington Township Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Heifer International
