Donald C. Schark

January 3, 1950 – January 9, 2024

Donald Christian Schark, 74 of Menominee, MI entered eternal rest on Tuesday January 9, 2024 at Aurora Medical Center – Bay Area in Marinette, WI. He was born on January 3, 1950 in Saginaw, MI to Christian and Flora June (Howe) Schark. Don served his country as a Marine during the Vietnam War and was awarded the Purple Heart and Bronze Star. He later received his Master’s of Divinity at Methodist Theological School and became a United Methodist minister. Don was also a poet and author, publishing his novel, Dancing in the Grass, in 2008. He was a world traveler and set foot on all 7 continents. A lifelong fisherman, Don always found peace on the water.

Donald is survived by two sons: Andrew (Christina Dixon) Schark of Los Angeles, CA and Erik Schark of New York City, NY; one daughter: Rebekah (Michael) Ebbensgard of Abrams, WI; five grandchildren: Piers Strom, Jacob Ebbensgard, Kathleen Schark, Mackenzie Schark, and Emily Ebbensgard; one great grandchild: River Strom; one sister: Carole McCollum of Saginaw, MI; and one brother: Rick (Kristi) Schark of Coldwater, MI.

Donald is preceded in death by his parents Christian and Flora June; and his sister Linda Probst.

A visitation for Donald will be held at Cadieu Funeral Home on Wednesday, January 17, 2024 from 4:00 pm until time of Military Honors at 6:00 pm. A funeral service will follow with Reverend John Murray presiding.
