Husband of Pastor Saundra J. Clark, Michael "Mike" H. Clark, 82, Powers, passed away on Thursday December 8, 2022 in Iron Mountain, MI. He was born on October 25, 1940 in Fulton County, Ohio, son of the late Harold H. and Marian E. (Winzeler) Clark. On September 4, 1960 he married the former Saundra Jones.
After high school, Mike earned a Bachelor degree in Journalism and a Master’s degree in Communications. He served his country in the U.S. Army retiring after 21 years as LTC, with service in Vietnam. He worked in Public Relations for the Pentagon, Northern Michigan University and Northwestern University. Mike was also a Lay Leader for the United Methodist Church Conference.
He is survived by his wife: The Rev. Saundra Clark, daughters: Shari (Sam) Piraino and Julie (Blaine) Gagne, grandchildren: Kylie (Shane) Gearhart, Aurora Shand, and Parker Bruce, great-grandsons: Asher, Abel, Blaze, Colton, and KC
Mike was preceded in death by his parents, siblings: E. Patricia Barbier, William “Bill” G. Clark, Marilyn R. Fenter, and Gerald “Jerry” D. Clark
A celebration of life will be held at 1:00 p.m. (CST) on Saturday January 14, 2023 at Trinity United Methodist Church (808 Carpenter Ave., Iron Mountain, MI 49801), with The Rev. Geri Hamlin officiating. There will be a time of fellowship following the service in the church fellowship hall. Mike was laid to rest in the Spalding Township Cemetery after Tony Revord American Legion post #244 military rites.
