Cheers for 100 years of caring

The Methodist Children’s Home Society observes its century celebration Saturday, October 21st.

“One hundred years ago seven children walked through our doors looking for a better life. Now we’ve changed the lives of thousands.” That joyful proclamation on the website of the Methodist Children’s Home Society is an invitation for all to celebrate their centennial on Saturday, October 21st.

It promises to be a beautiful evening of dinner, dancing and live entertainment at the Laurel Manor in Livonia. The event is also an opportunity to look back at MCHS’s legacy while also looking forward to the future—another 100 years of dedication to those who need them most.

The Redford Township Historical Commission recently shared a retrospective on the ministry of “Children’s Village,” from its beginning in Highland Park in 1917 to a tour of its present “peaceful, park-like” property.”
