South Lyon First United Methodist Church seeks a Band Leader, part-time (10-12 hrs/week currently with possibility of additional hours in future), to lead the band during services and events with a modern style of Christian music, expressing the joy and passion of worship through musical and spiritual offerings. Position responsibilities include selecting appropriate music, coordinating volunteer musicians, collaborating and assisting with worship planning, and working with church staff. The position requires:
–a strong knowledge of praise music
–an ability to adapt and arrange music for worship services
–an ability to support congregational singing with vocals and instruments
–an ability to plan, manage, and direct the band’s participation in worship
–an ability to direct rehearsals.
A candidate must be a proficient instrumentalist. Minimum one year of experience leading or participating in a musical group is preferred. Graduation from high school or equivalent and additional coursework in music theory and/or performance is desirable.
