Meet Chebon Kernell

The Rev. Glen Chebon Kernell, Jr. will be coming to Michigan in 2016 for the shared session of the Detroit and West Michigan Annual Conferences.
Kernell is the Executive Secretary of Native American & Indigenous Ministries, Justice & Discipleship at the General Board of Global Ministries. Currently he is working as a consultant with the team designing the experience of Repentance Toward Reconciliation that will be held in East Lansing next June.

This Thursday, November 19, is an opportunity to become acquainted with Chebon Kernell as the featured speaker in another Vital Conversation hosted by the General Commission on Religion and Race (GCORR). Tune in at 9 p.m. EST as Rev. Kernell explores the call to ongoing acts of repentance with a challenge to the Church to improve relationships with indigenous people. He encourages the raising awareness and increasing advocacy prompting annual conferences to consider what repentance and reconciliation looks like on a local level.

Resources will be included for use with small groups, including Sunday school classes, to continue the conversation.

Please register now to participate in this event. The video will begin at 9 p.m. ET and will be followed by a live conversation with Rev. Kernell, where you can ask questions and engage in dialogue.
The series is aimed at helping congregations and clergy begin their own conversations about matters impacting their lives and communities. The series is a part of a core initiative of GCORR to host forums and develop resources to encourage authentic conversations about the things that often divide and harm the body of Christ.
