Sandra L. Williams

August 31, 1947 – August 9, 2022

Wife of Pastor Nolan R. Williams, Sandra Lee Shostrom Williams passed into the loving embrace of God on Tuesday, August 9, 2022. If you knew Sandy, you could imagine her standing at the pearly gates, her eyes twinkling and a spare Dove chocolate bar in her pocket; and quite possibly a gentle correction of St. Peter’s grammar!

Sandy was born August 31, 1947, in Leroy, MI to Rosemary and Charles Shostrom. She was a 1965 graduate of Leroy (MI) High School, and after having children, returned to school to receive her Master’s degree in Secondary Education from Ferris State University in 1984. Sandy shared her love of reading and her passion for precise language with a generation of students at Morley Stanwood High School before retiring in 2003.

Sandy smiled the most when she was near her family, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She loved dark chocolate, frozen Cokes, and garden-fresh tomatoes. She spent many evenings engaged in fierce competition with her family and friends over a game of Mexican Train Dominoes. Sandy always enjoyed a good outing, whether it was a familiar shopping trip to Target or a visit to a brand-new theater show. She was a Michigan snowbird and adored Arizona where she spent many winters with friends in the warm sunshine.

Sandy is survived by her loving husband, Rev. Nolan Williams and daughters, LeAnn Marie Smalstig (Mark) and Bethany Lynn Davis (Michael). Sandy’s circle of beloved family includes her daughter-in-law, Ann Therese Bell Davis (Doug); her stepdaughters, Trinna Burrows (Judith); Kari Seidelman; and Rebecca Yoshihara (Tommy). Sandy was blessed with 16 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Rosemary and Charles Shostrom; her beloved sons, Jeffrey Davis and Gregory Davis; her sisters, Harriet Holmquist and Patricia Chadra; and her great-grandson, Gunner Platte.
