Rev. Rex E. Bean

Rev. Rex E. Bean, age 95, passed away on Sunday, August 19, 2018, at the Clark Retirement Community. A memorial service was held on August 25, 2018 in Grand Rapids.  Rex was born on August 8, 1923 to Clarence and Lucy (Losey) Bean in Hillsdale, MI. After high school, he enrolled at Western Michigan University until he enlisted and proudly served in the United States Air Force. Upon his arrival home from the military he re-enrolled at Western and that’s where he met the love of his life, Margaret. He and Margaret were married on July 9, 1949 and their love lasted until his passing. Rex worked as the Director of Guidance for Mona Shores High School in Norton Shores, MI for many years until the call from the Lord came and he accepted an early retirement to pursue his pastoral studies. He served Temple United Methodist Church and the Clark Retirement community where he lived the final 19 years of his life.  Rex is survived by his loving wife of 69 years, Margaret Bean; daughters, Gwenneth L. Bean, Cynthia K. (Michael) Jakeway; grandchildren, Brittany M. (Troy) Hallin, Kelsey E. (Ben Hausman) Jakeway, Jeffrey M. (Tiara) Jakeway; brother, Russell (Orda Mae) Bean.
