Bishop David Bard is Dr. Brad Miller’s guest on episode 008 of the United Methodist People Podcast.
Dr. Brad Miller says, “The purpose of the United Methodist People Podcast is strengthening the connection in the United Methodist Church through conversation and commentary as a means of accomplishing our mission of making disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world.”
This conversation is the second in the series, “The Bishops Speak,” in which Dr. Miller is interviewing bishops from around the world prior to the 2019 General Conference.
Two questions are being asked of the bishops:
1. How effective has the UMC been in fulfilling our mission of making disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world?
2. What is your view of the way forward?
In episode 008 Bishop Bards addresses these questions along with his story of coming to faith, the influences on his life and ministry, his academic pursuits in the field of ethics, his service to the church in many capacities in Minnesota and his election to the episcopacy in 2016.
