Pastor Clarence W. VanConant

We extend our condolences to the family and friends of Pastor Clarence William VanConant, Retired Local Pastor of the Michigan Conference, who died on July 29, 2019 at the age of 75.  Clarence served at churches in the Upper Peninsula, the Thumb area and Monroe including Harbor Beach, Port Hope, Port Sanilac, and Monroe First UMC. Clarence was also a Vietnam Veteran who saw active duty as a Navy Seabee. He enjoyed wood working, especially making toys. Clarence liked riding his tricycle and playing with his great-grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, Earleen Hamblen VanConant (Michigan Conference Retired Local Pastor); six children, Julie (Larry) Sleda, Clarence (Tracy) VanConant, Troy (Tracy) VanConant, Scott (Amanda) VanConant, Tina Machowicz, and Chad (Rachel) VanConant; Four step children, Nathan (Janet) Payne, Margo (Thomas) Wyss, Audray (Robert) Stefan and Sarah (Eric) DeBusscher; 33 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one sister, Margie and one great-granddaughter, Ella.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, August 3, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at Faith Free Will Baptist Church, 64395 Romeo Plank Rd., Ray Twp. with Pastor Ron Meadows officiating. Burial will take place at Resurrection Cemetery with military honors.
