Morris C. Taber

Morris C. Taber died on August 3, 2018 at his home in Ann Arbor. He was an active member of First UMC Ypsilanti and for many years lay delegate to the Detroit Annual Conference, where he also served on mission boards. He and his wife, Ann, for many years led and coordinated mission projects to Mutare, Zimbabwe and Africa University. They started several school libraries, facilitated scholarships for students, shipped several containers of books and supplies, and coordinated Volunteers in Mission projects.

He is the son of the late Rev. Marcius and Mearl Taber and brother of Rev. Harold (Miriam) Taber and Rev. Margery (Gordon) Schleicher, who survive him. Also surviving him are his wife Ann, sons Mark (Colleen) and Steve (Julie) Taber, sister Carolyn (Werner) Klisch, and numerous grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, August 11 at First United Methodist Church of Ypsilanti, 209 Washtenaw Ave., Ypsilanti, Michigan 48197. There will be a family reception hour prior to the service at 12:00 and after the service a luncheon will be served at the church.

For those wishing to do so, memorial gifts are suggested to Africa University, Cass Community Social Services, Justice for Our Neighbors Southeastern Michigan, or First United Methodist Church Ypsilanti.
