Bridget Nelson will coordinate youth ministry across the Area starting July 1, 2017.

June 28, 2017 — The Michigan Area of The United Methodist Church now has a Coordinator of Youth Ministries. Bridget Nelson began service in that role on July 1, 2017. Announcement of the expanded position was made by the Design Team and the Leadership Team in consultation with the Area Personnel Committee.

Nelson has been serving in this ministry position for the Detroit Conference for the past three years. Bridget brings nearly two decades of youth ministry leadership, expertise and passion to this role. She has built relationships, networks, and resource systems to assist local congregations and adult workers in youth ministry. The fruit of her ministry has included training events, local church consulting about youth ministry opportunities, and building a Social Media and face-to-face network of leaders who are committed to empowering, connecting and resourcing youth ministry. Youth Retreats, Youth Leadership Academies and a REACH Network small group have been organized with benefit of her leadership.

Bridget intends to make contact in the coming months with local church, district and conference leaders across West Michigan.  She may be contacted directly at [email protected]  or phone 248-632-2504.
