Betty Kay Leitelt

Pastor Betty Kay Leitelt of Montrose, age 68, passed away on Wednesday, October 28, 2020 at McLaren Flint. Betty served at Otisville, Fostoria and West Deerfield.

A Private Family Memorial service will be held Saturday, November 7, 2020 at Montrose United Methodist Church. The service will be live streamed through the Montrose United Methodist Church’s facebook page. Family will receive friends at the church from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM. Pastor Hal Phillips will be officiating. A private graveside service will be held for the family at Montrose Twp., Cemetery.

Kay was born October 8, 1952 in Flint, Michigan to James and Kathleen (Volz) Hitchcock. She was raised in Montrose and graduated from Hill-McCloy High School in 1970. She later went on to attend Ferris State University. Over the years, Kay worked various jobs, she first worked for Citizens Bank in Flint, Montrose Orchards, and a secretary for the Flushing Community Schools. She later got her calling into the ministry within the United Methodist Church. She served as pastor for the Northwest Venice United Methodist Church. For the last 10 years her ministry led her to the Otisville, Fostoria and West Deerfield United Methodist Churches. When not working, Kay enjoyed spending time at the Otisville Senior Center, working with the Forgotten Man Missionaries and collecting John Deere memorabilia. She was a diehard Detroit sports fan, from the Tigers, Red Wings, Pistons and Lions. She also enjoyed watching U of M Football. Most important in her life, Kay loved spending time with her children and spoiling her grandchildren.

Surviving are: Sons, Gerrad (Misti) Leitelt, Christopher Leitelt, Matthew (Krista) Leitelt and Paul Leitelt; Mother: Kathleen Hitchcock; Grandchildren “Her Pride and Joy” Olivia, Zenna, Owen, Emma and Luke; Siblings: Walter (Connie) Hitchcock, Benny (Lynnette) Hitchcock, Joyce (Ernest “Hans”) Wohlfeill, Gary Hitchcock, Bruce Hitchcock, Dale (Cathy) Hitchcock and Ron Hitchcock; also many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and extended family and friends. She was preceded in death by her father, James and her sister Patricia “Trish”.

Online condolences may be made to the family at O’Guinn Family Funeral Homes.  Our prayers go out to Betty’s family and all who knew and loved her.
