None of us wants to imagine that we might meet an untimely death. However, every single one of us wants to make sure that if that does happen, our loved ones are provided for. As a United Methodist clergy person, you are covered by Life Insurance provided either through the CPP (Clergy Protection Program) or through the UMLifeOptions program that the Michigan Conference has elected to participate in.
If you are appointed half-time or more, you also can participate in Optional Life Insurance through UNUM. This is additional life insurance that is available to participants at their own cost, but it is very economical and can be purchased for the participant, their spouse, and their dependents. Coverage comes at a guaranteed amount without medical verification and additional coverage can be purchased if you fill out a medical questionnaire.
If you would like to enroll in additional Life Insurance, you can follow this link.
Your username will be umc + your last name + the last 4 digits of your social security number (SSN). Example: umcsmith1234. Your password is the last 4 digits of your SSN. Once you log in you can make your elections and you will start being billed quarterly for your coverage. Basic additional coverage can be obtained for less than $100 a year and can buy peace of mind that your family will have all that they need financially should an untimely death occur in your family.
