If you’ve had a recent life change (a new child, a marriage) we want to remind everyone that you have a 30-day window to make changes to your health care plan. Usually changes to health insurance can only be made during the open enrollment period. However, when a qualifying health event happens you have a 30-day special enrollment period available, but the time is limited. If you have a new member in your family, you’ll want to get them added as soon as possible so that their health insurance is active from the time of the event (birth or marriage). Otherwise, coverage may not be post-dated to that event date.
