Allen D. Pebley Sr.

December 15, 1931 – April 29, 2023

Husband of Pastor Patricia A. Pebley, Allen David Pebley, Sr., age 91, of Jackson, MI, formally of Johnstown, PA., went home to be with the Lord on April 29, 2023, after a lengthy illness. He was born on December 15, 1931. He was the son of Lester and Kathleen (Chapman) Pebley, who preceded him in death. He is also preceded in death by his brother, Lester Pebley Jr., Overland Park, Kansas; sister, Lois Jean Jerwann, Scotia, NY.

Allen is survived by his spouse, Pastor Patricia A. Pebley (Michigan Conference Retired Local Pastor) of 45 years; his son, Allen David Pebley Jr., (Elizabeth) of New Freeport, PA; daughters, Sylvia Roxanne (Steve) Gross, of Midland, TX, and Andrea Weir, of Jackson, MI; brother, Harry Pebley, of San Diego, CA; sister, Kathleen Pebley, of Surprise, AZ; grandchildren, Billie Joe Pebley, Nikita Gross, Isaac (Sky) Gross, Kaden and Jakob Weir and several nieces and nephews.

Allen graduated from Johnstown High School, in Johnstown, PA in 1950. He served in the Naval Revere for two years during high school, He joined the United States Air Force in 1950 and was stationed in Okinawa during the Korean War. Returning from Okinawa in 1954, Allen went to Otterbein College. He drove a Greyhound bus for 19 years, then was called by the Lord to enter the ministry. He attended and graduated from Waynesburg College, in Waynesburg, PA. He also attended and graduated from United Theological Seminary in Dayton, OH. He was ordained as an Elder in the North Indiana Conference of the United Methodist Church. He served the Lord faithfully in several, very successful congregations until his retirement in 1995.

Allen had a wonderful sense of humor and enjoyed the outdoors, camping, draft horses, and puttering around in his garage as long as he was able. He deeply loved the Lord and being able to serve the Lord as a pastor, brought him great joy. He loved his family, and he will be greatly missed.
