Four days before his tragic death in Memphis, Rev. Martin Luther King, Jr. preached in Washington D.C.
The Very Rev. Randolph Marshall Hollerith is dean of Washington National Cathedral. It was there on March 31, 1968 that the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. preached his last Sunday sermon, “Remaining Awake Through a Great Revolution.”
Hollerith says, “Every once in a while, you stumble across words that seem to shout across the decades. They poke and prod at your conscience, perhaps make you a bit uncomfortable. They challenge. They inspire. That’s what it feels like to read the words of the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr.”
