Zambia missionary arrives soon

Paul Webster, a missionary with support across the Area, will soon be in Michigan. Many congregations in the Detroit and West Michigan conferences support the salary and the ministry of the Rev. Paul Webster. Webster, a rural development specialist, has been serving with the General Board of Global Ministries since 1992. His current assignment is the Mujila Falls Agriculture Centre in Zambia.

Every three years United Methodist missionaries return to the United States to thank supporting churches and to provide ministry updates. Paul is due back this May. It is likely he will tour the Michigan Area late summer.

Paul reports in his latest newsletter that the project has doubled its hectares of maize and built another 2 X 16 meter corn crib. A stationary threshing machine, made in India, has been purchased to help at harvest time. Homes and buildings are being connected to the new national electrical grid. Equipment purchases, including a 70hp John Deere tractor and enlargement of the chicken flock have seen “a great return on the investment in better lives … even extending to all of Zambia, D.R.Congo, Zimbabwe, and Angola. Economic Development through our joint efforts has shown people how to live ‘abundantly’ and to know that God, through His Church, is making their lives better.”
