Winona A. Anderson

April 10, 2023

Wife of Rev. Francis F. Anderson, Winona A. Anderson, 97, of Lansing, Michigan passed away Monday, April 10, 2023. She was born and raised in Ann Arbor, Michigan where she met her loving husband and partner of almost 70 years, Francis (Frank) Anderson.

Win attended two years at Albion College, studying sociology and making lifelong friends. She completed training at the General Board of Global Ministries of the United Methodist Church in NYC prior to serving as a missionary with her husband in Belize, Trinidad, and Jamaica, C.A. for 15 years. They retired in Lansing and returned to their home church, Central United Methodist, where Win was actively involved in the choir and church library. She was also a volunteer at Lansing City Hall.

Prior to her mission work, Win worked for the U.S. Army Judge Advocate General’s School, Ann Arbor, The Michigan Council of Churches, Lansing, and the Y.W.C.A., Detroit. She was a devoted housewife and loving mother, supporting her husband at various pastorates throughout Michigan while raising their three children.

Win took on the challenges and adventures in her life with energy, compassion, charm, humor, and smarts. She loved to camp, hike, swim, and travel on Elderhostel trips and cruises. Win would strike up a conversation with anyone. She was a leader, singer, writer and reader and had a passion for organizing libraries.

She is survived by her children, Cindy (Barry) Bingham, Kristin (Terry) Davidson, and Fred Anderson; loving granddaughter, Sara (Joseph) Davidson-LeFevre; her precious great-grandchildren, Lena LeFevre, twins Clark, and Logan LeFevre; many nieces and nephews and other extended family members. Win was preceded in death by her parents, William and Flossie (Wallick) Miller, and her husband, Frank, on October 18, 2018. She will be dearly missed and always loved.

Her memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, May 12, 2023, at the Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel, 325 W. Washtenaw St., Lansing, MI, 48933. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the library at Lansing Central UMC, the United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR) or Capital Area Humane Society.
