Global Mission Fellows include Emily Burns

At the present time, seven young adult missionaries are serving in Michigan. Three of these Fellows talk about their service with God’s people in Kalamazoo and Detroit.

Global Mission Fellows in service in the United States are called US-2s. There are seven serving in Michigan at the present time. This Global Ministries video highlights the ministry of three of these servants.

Emily Burns has been serving at Kalamazoo Sunnyside UMC as Volunteer Coordinator and Community Organizer since August 2018. She 

Also commissioned in August 2018, Asti White is in ministry at the Wesley Foundation at Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo as the Resident Director of the Intentional Living Community.

Commissioned in August of 2019, Samantha Whitford lives in Detroit and is Outreach Coordinator with Motown Mission, Motor City Wesley, and the Redford Brightmoor Initiative.

The General Board of Global Ministries is now accepting applications for the 2020-2022 Class of Global Mission Fellows. There are two tracks: US-2 and International. Global Mission Fellows:

  • Are young adults ages 20–30.
  • Have a bachelor’s degree (or equivalent life experience).
  • Commit to two years of service.
  • Serve “with,” not “to” or “for” others.
  • Feel called to address the root causes of injustice.
  • Speak conversational English.

Those applying before December 2 will receive an exclusive resource; the application deadline is January 7.
