VanderMolen hired as new statistician

Karin VanderMolen

The Michigan Conference announces the hiring of Karin VanderMolen as Statistician/Database Manager, effective June 15.

In an email to staff last week, Rev. Joel Walther, Director of Conference Benefits and Coordinator of Human Resources, announced that Karin VanderMolen would begin work as the new Statistician/Database Manager on Monday, June 15, 2026.

Karin comes to the Michigan Conference after working at Owosso: First UMC since 1994. She began there as an Administrative Assistant and grew into the roles of Financial Secretary and Bookkeeper, supporting the church’s ministry and daily operations with steady, dependable care.

A lifelong resident of Owosso, northeast of Lansing, Karin graduated from Owosso High School and earned her associate degree in business from Baker College, graduating summa cum laude. She has been a member of Owosso: First UMC since 1997, devoting her time to the nursery, children’s Sunday school, vacation Bible school, youth ministry, and the church’s annual living nativity. Karin has a heart for children, families, and the wider church community.

Outside work, Karin is the proud mother of twins, Faith and Matthew, both 24. She enjoys staying active at the gym, crocheting, camping, and playing a good game of cribbage with family and friends.

Karin can be reached at [email protected].

As part of this staffing transition, the Michigan Conference would like to express its thanks to Pamela Stewart, who is retiring from this role, effective June 30, 2026. She has served faithfully for 17 years and will assist with training Karin before her retirement begins.
