The one-hour Truth and Reconciling film will show at Southfield: Hope UMC.
Bishop David Alan Bard is inviting United Methodists to the premier showing of a one-hour video produced by the Michigan Truth and Reconciling Task Force. The one-hour video will be shown on Sunday, February 11, 2018, from 3PM to 6PM, at Southfield Hope United Methodist Church, 26275 Northwestern Hwy, Southfield. The independently produced video shares the experiences of Michigan lesbian, bisexual, gay, transgendered, and queer people and their families with the church. This will be followed by conversation and listening.
During the past few months, Bishop David Alan Bard has led a series of dialog and listening sessions across Michigan called “Weaving Our Future.” These conversations are part of a United Methodist Church initiative on church unity and LBGTQ inclusion called, “A Way Forward.” The bishop has noted that during this time of denominational discernment, it is important to pray and hear the voices of many people.
To assist these conversations, a number of support materials have been produced and made available. This includes a video and study guide, produced by the conference, of individuals with diverse theological perspectives who share their personal and Wesleyan understanding of these positions in respectful ways.
