Something from nothing

It’s that time of year when vegetable gardens are producing at peak capacity. Bushels of zucchini and bags of beans are being shared among family members and friends. This reflection from Jean Blish Siers tells of her childhood in the watermelon patch and even shares a recipe for pickled watermelon rind. Jean is a Gleaning Coordinator for the Society of St. Andrew, an organization that feeds the hungry with food that would otherwise go to waste.
