Film a short video clip on your cell phone and show us what LOVE BOLDLY, part of our new UMC vision, looks like in your local congregation. Deadline is April 15.
A baptism. A baby. Water poured out in grace before a single word is spoken. It is one of the most ancient acts in the Christian tradition — and it will anchor something brand new happening across our Annual Conference this spring.
Michigan Conference Communications is inviting congregations to participate in the Love Boldly video initiative, a grassroots campaign to capture what The United Methodist Church’s new vision statement looks like in the real life of real churches in Michigan. The vision — “The United Methodist Church forms disciples of Jesus Christ who, empowered by the Holy Spirit, love boldly, serve joyfully, and lead courageously in local communities and worldwide connections” — was unveiled in 2025.
The ask is simple: Film a 10- to 15-second clip on your cell phone and show what LOVE BOLDLY looks like in your local congregation. No professional equipment. No script. Just a pastor, a lay leader, a young adult, or a longtime member speaking from the heart about one moment, one ministry, one person who embodies the expression of bold love in their community.
Clips will be woven together into a video premiering at Annual Conference in May 2026. Individual clips will also be shared on social media using the hashtag #LoveBoldlyMIUMC. Download submission instructions.
“This vision only comes alive when real people give it a face,” said Rev. David Eardley, chair of the Commission on the Annual Conference Session. “We want to see every corner of this conference represented on the screen.”
All submissions are due by April 15, 2026. Download the free Video Champion Kit, which includes filming tips, script starters, and submission instructions.
