Pastor Jack Johnston, 71, Williston, ND, passed away Wednesday, February 28, 2024, at Trinity Hospital.
Jack was born March 10, 1952, the son of Robert and Leona (Butler) Johnston, in Toledo, OH. Jack was raised in the country just west of Monroe, Michigan. He graduated high school in Ida, MI in 1970, and in 1974 received a bachelor’s degree at Adrian Michigan College. In 1977 he received an MDiv degree from United Theological Seminary. He served as a pastor from 1975 until 2012. He served in mostly small churches in Ohio, Nebraska, and Michigan.
After retirement, Jack spent a little time in Tennessee with his daughter Carolyn and grandson Grayson before they moved to North Dakota.
Jack enjoyed walking his dog Daisy and reading books with his cat Gracie on his lap. He enjoyed watching football and watching the trains every chance he got.
His loving family includes his daughter Carolyn Johnston (Tylor Sorenson), grandchild Grayson Lovelady, and nieces Patricia Foltz and Liz Reed.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents, sister Joan Johnston, and brother James Johnston.
Services will be held at a later date.
