Fowler, a Shining Light

The Rev. Faith Fowler, executive director of Cass Community Social Services and pastor of Cass Community UMC, will receive one of the Shining Light Regional Cooperation Awards.

The Rev. Faith Fowler, executive director of Cass Community Social Services and pastor of Cass Community United Methodist Church in Detroit, is one of two leaders who will receive the Eleanor Josaitis Unsung Hero Award, one of the Shining Light Regional Cooperation Awards.

Fowler, 57, helps the needy in Detroit by providing food, health services, housing, job programs and career training, all aimed at lifting people out of poverty. She is known for her marketing, entrepreneurial and fundraising skills that help the disadvantaged, with programs like Detroit Treads, Cass Green Industries and Tiny Homes that provide jobs and housing.
