Dorothy M. Snow

Dorothy M. Snow, age 92, passed away Thursday, January 28, 2021 at the Poppen Residence of Harbor Hospice. 

She was born April 25, 1928 in Muskegon to John and Minnie (Lulofs) Hyma, Sr. On October 19, 1950, she married Rev. Kenneth L. Snow in Muskegon and he preceded her in death on June 8, 2002. During their years in ministry, Rev. Ken and Dorothy served in the following cities: Brethren (1950), Mancelona (1954), Scottville (1956), Centerville (1964), Lawrence (1967), Buchanan (1972), Hart (1982), and returned home to Muskegon in 1990.

Dorothy also worked as a teacher aide, a clerk and as a receptionist and in the accounting department for Buchanan Community Hospital for 10 years. She was a member of Community United Methodist Church. Dorothy was also very active with the United Methodist Women, the Women’s Temperance Union, served as a Sunday School Teacher and sang in the church choir. She was chairman of the Taylor Circle. She enjoyed photography, exercise class, being outside – especially at the cottage on Silver Lake.

Survivors include two sons, Daryl Snow of Niles, Rodney (Vonda) Snow of Niles; four grandchildren, Daniel (Amanda) Snow, Larison (Jason) Hendrick, Kendall Snow, Bailey Snow; five great-grandchildren, Jacob, Andrew, Kaitlyn, Peter Snow, and Erin Hendrick; her brother-in-law, John Baker.

She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, four sisters, Minerva Iloniemi, Ruth Dunbar, Helen Hyma, Mildred Baker, and 1 brother, John Hyma, Jr.

A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday, February 2, 2021 at Community United Methodist Church (1614 Ruddiman Drive, North Muskegon, MI 49445) with Rev. Jeremy Williams officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at church. Interment will follow at Oakwood Cemetery.

Memorial Contributions may be directed to Community United Methodist Church Memorial Fund.
