The Michigan Conference is offering grants up to $1,000 to assist churches seeking to invest in accommodations for those with disabilities or neurodiversity of all kinds.

The Michigan Conference invites United Methodist churches to apply for a Disability and Inclusion Grant to strengthen their ministry.

The purpose of Disability and Inclusion Grants is to provide funding for churches to invest in training, supplies, and resources directly related to providing accommodations for those with disabilities or neurodiversity of all kinds.

Funding priorities will be given for workshops, training, speakers, resources, and supplies to support disability and neurodiversity ministry.

Grant request amounts may be up to $1,000. Churches need to match a minimum of 20% of the grant request. For example, if First UMC requests $1,000, they must match a minimum of $200.

Applications will be accepted through September 30, 2023, or when funds are depleted, whichever comes first. This is a one-time grant.

Applicants must complete the application and email it to Rev. Kathy Pittenger, Children’s Initiatives Coordinator, at [email protected].

The Grant Team will review applications and respond within sixty days after the application is received.
