Ruth A. Richards, surviving spouse of Rev. Charles W. Richards (Retired Elder), of Bronson, passed away Saturday, September 12, 2026, at Parkview Regional Medical Center at the age 0f 89.
A memorial service will be held Friday, September 25, 2026 at Coldwater United Methodist Church, 26 Marshall Street, Coldwater, MI 49036, at 12:00 noon with Pastor Terry Siler officiating. A memorial gathering will be held prior to the service from11-12:00 PM. Interment will take place following the service at the Coldwater United Methodist Church Memorial Garden.
Ruth Ann was born January 12, 1937, in Indiana, Pennsylvania, to Herbert and Martha (Wyant) White. She graduated from high school in Jamestown, New York, before continuing her education at Michigan State University, where she met her future husband, Charles W. Richards. Ruth and Charles were married January 1, 1956, and shared many wonderful years together until his passing on February 26, 2014.
Ruth continued her education by earning her master’s degree from The Ohio State University. She devoted her career to helping others as an occupational the rapist, working in Kalamazoo, Battle Creek, and Hastings before finishing her career in Coldwater.
A lifelong member of the United Methodist Church, Ruth’s faith was an important part of her life. Ruth was always involved in what her family was doing, and was passionate about supporting their interests, accomplishments, and adventures.
Ruth found great joy in gardening and especially loved fresh flowers. She enjoyed collecting lighthouses, each one holding a special place among the things she treasured. She took great pride in her son’s passion for flying, with the Beech 18 being her favorite airplane.
Ruth is survived by her children Joan E. (Terry) Siler of Bronson, Matthew (Michele) Richards of Scottsdale, AZ; her siblings Roger White, and Nancy Kleberg; her grandchildren Shannon (Terence) Addy, Beau (Danielle Curtis) Siler, Jacob (Sarah) Siler, Logan (Jessie) Laatsch, Benjamin (Sarah Alpert) Laatsch, Isaiah (Amy) Laatsch, Carson (Luu) Richards, Landon (McKenzie) Richards, Elise (James O’Leary) Richards, Monique (Brody) Morgan; 10 great grandchildren; her son in law John Laatsch; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her daughter Lynda Laatsch, and her brothers John White and Herbert White.
