Rev. Dr. Wesley L. Brun

Dr. Brun “Wes”, of the Fox Run Senior Community, Novi, formerly of Farmington Hills, unexpectedly entered eternal life at home on Tuesday morning, January 26, 2021.  He was 80 years old.

Wes was born October 13, 1940, in Burlington, Iowa, to the late George and Velma (Duttweiler) Brun.  He married Beverly (Barker) on August 5, 1972, at Grace United Methodist Church, St. Louis, MO.  Sadly, Beverly preceded Wes in death on October 26, 2016. In 1986, Wes came to Michigan and began serving as the first Executive Director of The Samaritan Counseling Center of Southeastern Michigan. He served in this appointment until 2006, when he retired.

Wes served for many years on the Conference Board of Ministry, including in retirement and he was currently serving on the Greater Detroit District Committee on Ministry (DCOM).  Wes also taught the Spiritual Care and Pastoral Counseling class for the conference license to preach school. Over the years, Wes served in many capacities across the district and the annual conference and interacted with many laity and clergy.

Wes’s daughter the Rev. Amy Brun Terhune (Saginaw: First) and her husband the Rev. Bradley Terhune are both clergy in our annual conference.  Wes was also the devoted father of Scott (Tere), Todd (Cara King), and David; cherished grandfather of Stephanie (fiancé Thomas Lundborg) England, Chandler Brun, Ryan Brun, Catharine Terhune, Isabelle Terhune, and Isabel Briscoe-Brun; and dear brother of Cynthia Arnold.

Wes touched many lives with his wisdom and his sense of humor. He will be deeply missed.

Arrangements are pending and will be shared when they are available from the family.

Condolences can be sent to:
