Miriam “Jean” Amstutz

January 4, 1928 – December 13, 2022

Wife of Pastor Paul L. Amstutz, Miriam “Jean” Amstutz, age 94 of the Flint area, passed away on December 13, 2022 at Angelica’s Place in Romeo, Michigan.

Jean was born on February 29, 1928 to Carl and Elsie (Barker) Andrews in Celina County, Ohio. She married Rev. Paul L. Amstutz on January 25, 1950. They shared 63 years of marriage before he predeceased her in 2013.

During her life, Jean was a pastor’s wife. She loved hosting people, like the women’s church group, as well as reading and spending time with her children. She was a very kind and compassionate woman who was devoted to her husband, family and church family. She was also known to be able to get a stain out of any article of clothing.

Left to cherish her memory are her children, Rev. David D. (Carrie) Amstutz, Helyn L. Smith, Daniel D. (Barbara) Amstutz; grandchildren, Aaron and Kyle Smith, Micah Amstutz, Wendi Leonard, Ashton Amstutz, Duncan Amstutz, Elijah Amstutz and Elianna Amstutz; as well as 9 great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her son, Robert J. Amstutz; parents, Carl and Elsie Andrews; and husband, Paul.

A funeral service was held at the United Methodist Church in New Lothrop with burial at Elmwood Cemetery.
