Statewide Lessons & Carols ahead

Carols from Traverse City

Churches across The Michigan Area are invited to experience a Service of Lessons and Carols on Sunday, December 26, featuring Bishop Bard, readers, and musicians from all nine districts.

A gift to pastors and congregations from The Michigan Conference.

Below is a preview of the service, led by Bishop David Bard, designed for worship on December 26.

This beautiful statewide service of readings and carols includes contributions by United Methodists from all nine districts of The Michigan Conference.

Final editing is in progress, and a finished version of this service will be available at the same link https://vimeo.com/652337495 no later than Friday, December 10. Download, embed, or share on your website, social media, or gather and experience it together.

Bishop Bard notes at the beginning of the video, “I hope you have experienced the joy of this season and the good news of God’s love coming to us in Jesus deeply, profoundly, and often. I hope this morning’s worship service will be another time when that good news touches your heart and soul.” He describes the experience as “a traditional service of lessons and carols proclaiming in word and music the joyful message of Christmas.” He  adds that it is more than a Christmas story. It’s “a story meant to give us courage and resilience for all of life, day in and day out.”

Another statewide campaign, Spend Christmas at our House, takes place the week before Christmas. The conference is launching a social media effort that will guide those searching for Christmas Eve services to your local church. It’s important to check now that your church’s contact information is correctly listed. Please email [email protected] if you need an update to your listing
