Due to upcoming retirements, the First United Methodist Church of Ypsilanti is seeking to hire individuals who have a passion for worship and music and a desire to grow our music program as an integral part of the congregation’s spiritual life. Four positions are available. Qualified applicants are invited to apply for more than one position.
Director of Music Ministries. The Director develops, plans and directs the growth of the music program as an integral part of the congregation’s spiritual life. This is a 12-month, part-time position that includes a program year from September to June and planning and preparations for the coming year in July and August. Seeking applicants with a strong personal music background and excellent skills in organization, management, delegation and recruitment.
Organist. The Organist provides organ and piano music for worship services and accompanies the Chancel Choir. This is a 12-month, part-time position that includes weekly choir rehearsals during the September-to-June program year and Sunday worship services year-round. Seeking applicants who are accomplished pianists with the ability to play the organ.
Director of Chancel Choir. The Director conducts the choir for all worship services for the September-to-June program year and for special worship services during Advent and Lent. This is a 10-month, part-time position. Seeking applicants who are accomplished at conducting and who have excellent interpersonal, organization and recruitment skills.
Director of Carilliers Bell Choir. The Director leads the Carilliers Bell Choir as a worship participant and small group ministry during the September-to-June program year and for special services during Advent and Lent. This is a 10-month, part-time position. Seeking applicants who are accomplished at directing and have excellent interpersonal skills.
Positions to begin for Director of Music Ministries and Organist on June 1, 2023, and for the Director of the Chancel Choir and the Director of the Carilliers Bell Choir on September 1, 2023.
