SUMMARY:IDI Workshop: IDP Together
DESCRIPTION:Join a supportive\, community-based walk through of your Intercultural Development Plan (IDP). Over a span of six months\, participants will be guided in thought\, reflection\, and action as they take steps to complete their IDP. Each participant will be given the space and support needed to traverse the intense landscape of intercultural development. As we deepen our self-awareness and increase our ability to relate to one another\, we sow seeds of meaningful connection. \nIDP Together is designed for those who have taken the Intercultural Development Inventory within the last two years and are ready to dive into their IDP. All are welcome. Co-facilitated by Rev. Alice Fleming Townley and Charity Ben. Every fourth Monday from noon to 1 pm\, January 26 – June 22. \nRegister Now! \n“We cannot live only for ourselves. A thousand fibers connect us with our fellow men; and among those fibers\, as sympathetic threads\, our actions run as causes\, and they come back to us as effects.” ~ Herman Melville \nIf you would like to take the Intercultural Develpment Inventory\, please contact: lbatten@michiganumc.org

SUMMARY:Lenten Book Study: Knowing Who We Are
DESCRIPTION:Across the Michigan Conference\, many are seeking a deeper understanding of our identity\, our history\, and our mission. The 2026 Michigan Annual Conference\, May 29-31\, 2026\, will focus on our UMC identity and include keynote speaker Ashley Boggan\, General Secretary of Archives and History. To prepare for the annual conference\, we encourage every local church in Michigan to plan a study of Laceye C. Warner’s book Knowing Who We Are. \nThis book offers a clearer picture of our Wesleyan way of following Jesus\, focusing on core values like God’s full grace for everyone\, Real-life transformation—how your faith leads to positive\, visible change in your life\, your community\, and the world. \nWhether you plan to attend the annual conference as an elected member or just want to learn more about what it means to #BeUMC and connect with fellow United Methodists across the state\, we hope you’ll participate in this book study\, designed to help you clarify your beliefs\, articulate your values\, and strengthen your connection to The United Methodist Church. \nWe want to ensure every Michigan United Methodist has the opportunity to participate. If your local church is not planning a study before the annual conference\, we invite you to sign up for special online sessions offered by the Michigan Conference during Lent. These six sessions will be offered via Zoom from February 24 to March 31. \nBook: Knowing Who We Are by Laceye C. Warner. Purchase the book at Cokesbury or Bookshop.org\nDates: Tuesdays\, starting February 24 and through March 31 (6 sessions)\nCost: There is no cost to participate other than purchasing a copy of the book.\nTime Options (Choose one): \nDaytime: Tuesdays\, 12:00 PM – 1:00 PM ET \nEvening: Tuesdays\, 6:30 PM – 8:00 PM ET \nPurchase the book and read Chapter 1 before February 24.\nSign up today to join the connectional conversation! \nRegister Now!
