Camp scholarships bless kids

Congolese children at camp

Michigan churches give generously to camp scholarships. Those gifts change lives of young people from as far away as Africa.

Rev. Marcia Elders says, “Wow!  A great and kind thing has been done by the camping ministry so many of you support.”

Thanks to camp scholarships, Lake Michigan Camp Directors Dana and Duane Hunt (Pentwater) and Director Sherry Stone of Camp Kinawind (Boyne Falls) were able to welcome 21 refugee children for a week of camping  July 21 through July 28.

The children arrived from Grand Rapids. Their Congolese families are active at Restoration Community UMC , The Michigan Conference’s  new church start under the leadership of Pastor Banza Mukalay.

Rev. Elders reports, “When asked what they loved best about their time it was always the same – going swimming!  Of course the Bible teaching, worship, food, and new friends were on the list of bests as well.”

Many thanks for the gifts that gave these kids an experience of a lifetime.
